Misdiagnoses of Rising Damp

The client received a quote for approximately £1300 + vat for a new damp proof course. Neil carried out a survey and suspected that the wall plaster was bridging an effective dpc. The property was approximately 50 years old and would almost certainly have been built with the benefit of a dpc. The client agreed to allow a skirting board to be removed and this confirmed that the plaster was bridging the dpc. When the plaster was cut back the perfectly functional dpc was exposed. The cost of remedial work was £375 + vat. The client saved approximately £1,000 and that was after paying my survey fee. The work was carried out with minimal disruption at minimal cost. One very happy client.
