Iconic Landmark -Spanish City, Whitley Bay

Posted by: Neil on 31/10/2016

Prior to the main refurbishment project commencing the client required a detailed inspection of all internal structural timbers to identify wood decaying fungi and wood boring insect that may affect the structural integrity of the timbers. Neil spent four days inspecting all exposed timbers and compiling a detailed report with support sketches and photographic evidence identifying defects along with a detailed specification as to the necessary remedial work.

Numerous dry rot outbreaks were located as well as localised wet rot infections. The cause of the outbreaks was identified with recommendations as to the necessary repairs to ensure that the building was made watertight. The majority of the remedial work will be carried out by the general building contractor with only limited specialist treatment needed.

Neil's report and specification will be used to obtain competitive quotes for the work and the work will be factored into the programme prior to commencement. Saving valuable time and money for the client.

Overdue face-lift to commence on Spanish City in Whitley Bay.
