It has been an extremely busy year for me in delivering a range of training courses to a very diverse range of professionals within our industry. The one thing that they all share is their passion and commitment to expanding their knowledge base to ensure that their clients receive the correct advice. I have travelled to the four corners of the country and met so many honest, decent professionals that it has reaffirmed my faith in our industry. The rate at which the industry is progressing is simply mindblowing.
Long gone are the days of your typical damp proofing company focussing on nothing more than rising damp. The diagnostic techniques are improving on a daily basis and the range of products and solutions available to deal with all aspects of unwanted damp in buildings surpasses anything we have ever seen before.
The range of training courses being offered is extensive and to the credit of everyone involved in our industry, there is no shortage of willing participants for each and every training course.
It would be fair to say that this industry is unrecognisable from the industry that i joined some 33 years ago. The technical expertise shown by many individuals is staggering. Just when i think i am up to date with new innovations yet another comes to the forefront.
All in all the rate of progress and continual professional development bodes very well for the Preservation Industry and this has been achieved in no small part with the support of the Property Care Association (PCA). Steve Hodgson (Chief Exec of the PCA) and his staff work tirelessly to ensure that the PCA members benefit from first-class training opportunities, shared knowledge throughout the membership and close links with various academic/professional organisations outside of the membership. It is inspiring to be part of such a forward-thinking and progressive industry. Long may it continue.
