Damp in Buildings

I have seen an increase in basement waterproofing failures over the past months. If you have experience of a failure or are subject to a failure it is essential that you seek expert advice before proceeding with further remedial work.A waterproofing failure can be extremely costly to rectify and difficult to diagnose. A thorough understanding of BS 8102: 2009 Code of Practice for Protection of Below Ground Structures Against Water from the Ground is required to both determine the cause of the failure and the appropriate remedial measures.

A waterproofing failure can be extremely costly to rectify and difficult to diagnose. A thorough understanding of BS 8102: 2009 Code of Practice for Protection of Below Ground Structures Against Water from the Ground is required to both determine the cause of the failure and the appropriate remedial measures. If you take expert advice the Surveyor should have the CSSW qualification(Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing).

Many property owners are utilising the basement to gain additional living space as this is often a cheaper option than moving to a larger premises. It is essential that a suitably qualified (CSSW) surveyor is employed to design and oversee the installation to ensure that it complies with BS8102: 2009. The financial cost of failing to employ a suitably qualified expert can be enormous as well as extremely stressful for the property owner.

If you require any advice please feel free to get in contact and I will be more than happy to discuss your particular project.
